This was my second visit to haar. My first induced me to write the most complimentary review I've ever written. It couldn't be as good again could it? No. It was better. Which begs the question, how can you improve on perfection? The surprise comes perhaps not in the meticulous preparation of each plate but more in the incredibly intense flavours which each one brings. Pork belly and Kimchi puree, Gurnard on this occasion the poisson du jour done in Goan curry, grass fed beef all with sauces and purees which must be tasted to be believed. A really strong wine list or wine pairings ensures that the wines match perfectly to the dishes.
I can't finish without paying compliment to Sean and the front of house staff whose attention to detail and description of each plate adds to the enjoyment of the food and an understanding of the flavours. All this done in an attentive but relaxed manner. Can't wait to return to see what chef Dean does next time. Genius.” - bianchiverdi

“Unreal Service Fantastic Food
What an absolutely amazing experience visiting the Haar restaurant my partner arranged for my birthday! We were treated like royalty from start to finish. We ordered from the taster menu which had a great range of different dishes to chose from and option to change dishes if you do not like certain things. I don’t like fish and was able to order other dishes which was great. Every dish was outstanding we were told how each meal was made which was a lovely touch and interesting to hear how they were created. My personal favourite was the pork with the apple sauce and the banoffee dessert delicious.
The service from the staff was 5 star our waiter Sean was very attentive , made sure our drinks were topped up frequently , and was great at making sure every table was attended to quickly and professionally.

This was our second visit and it definitely didn’t disappoint!! We had the Sunday lunch tasting menu which was excellent. The staff were exceptional- great to see they hadn’t changed from our first visit when it had just opened. Mum and I decided to treat ourselves to fine dining at The Haar for both our big birthdays and we were not disappointed. Everything from booking the table to eating the meal was excellent. I had octopus for the starter which was full of flavour and beautifully presented, mum had baby leeks which she said was very tasty. We both had the lobster which had been recommended and I can safely say that I will not be having lobster again in any other establishment as it was so tasty, definitely first class and don’t want to forget how good it tasted. It was so easy to eat and we didn’t have to pick to get out any of the meat, amazing! We weren’t going to bother with desert but as we felt so comfortable in the surroundings and were enjoying soaking up the atmosphere we opted for the bannoffee which again was beautifully presented and full of flavour which was delicious. My wife and I had the tasting menu tonight. The pictures speak for themselves as each course was out of this world. The restaurant team were very knowledgeable and very sweet, they couldn't have done anymore for you. I would have loved to see Dean out in the restaurant to say hello but as the restaurant was fully booked he was clearly too busy to join the customers, so is forgiven.

“THE place to eat in St Andrews
Booking last month for a table of twelve, we were blown away by the experience. Although the cocktails were more expensive than in other bars around town it was definitely worth it to order one of the signature cocktails. The food was excellent, served over a number of dishes, each of which was perfectly cooked. I look forward to visiting again soon!” - happyavocado2

All the courses were great but we’d highlight the white bean soup which was an alternate for oyster It was yummy and I’m looking for a recipe for it now! Used a voucher for 5 course tasting menu for a party of 6 friend and added on the lobster corse. Words almost fail me for the quality, taste and stunning presentation of each and every plate of culinary excellence. At times we were speechless and thank goodness for an amazing front of house team who guided us through every course explaining each plate in detail with suggestions on how to savour the food. And don’t forget to try Dean’s new gin which comes to life in the flight of gins. We will be back” - 997grahamm
“Fantastic food and attention to detail
Since September, I have eaten lunch three times at Haar and have never been disappointed. The first time I visited was with my husband to celebrate his birthday and we enjoyed choices from the a la carte menu. Exquisite attention to detail was the hallmark of everything we ate, so that visual experience combined with flavour and texture of food to create a great dining experience.
Following the success of that meal, I visited twice more with friends where we ate from the lunch menu offering three courses for £23.99. Prices were lower but quality of food and service remained the same as the first time I visited.

We had one of the best meals we've ever had at this warm, lovely, unpretentious and outstanding St. Andrews restaurant. Charming, knowledgeable staff. Excellent wine. Inventive and incredibly delicious food. Pork belly, duck and banoffee pudding were especially good. The cauliflower side was so delicious, I'd eat it for dessert.
