“Decided to book a table as we are staying a couple nights at Kinnettles and wanted a nice dinner.
Everything was excellent. Service, food, selection was perfect!
We both did the 6 course tasting menu and substituted in the market fresh lobster- the lobster was cooked perfectly and the seemingly innocuous potatoes were so delicious!
Highlights for us were the pork belly (loved the coriander oil), the duck (best duck I’ve ever eaten and my husband that doesn’t like duck, loved it), and the banoffee!!
If you don’t substitute in the lobster, it is well priced menu for a world class meal. Loved it, and would recommend to all!” - Ariana Infantino

I actually have been to Marcus a week before it lost one of its star and i thought Dean's food is just as good. :-)

What an amazing experience we had , the menu was very versatile and had something for everyone
The food itself was clean fresh and of a Michelin star quality , the attention to detail was truly wonderful, my son loved the drama of the smokie barrel and it was a delight to watch him have a full sensory experience

“Great new restaurant for St Andrews
Great food from chef Dean Banks. We tried three of the 'sharer' sized dishes and two of the 'large' dishes. We actually enjoyed the sharers more and wish we had ordered more of these. The octopus was an incredible dish, really truly superb, the crab brioche and Arbroath smokie both *very* good too.
We were told it was laid back stlye with no rush to turn table over, yet all of our food was out within half an hour (you order everything at same time).
It is very expensive: this meal cost us slightly more than our last visit to a nameless Fife Michelin-starred restaurant (with only one alcoholic drink on bill)... At said michelin starred restaurant you get much more of an 'experience' along with the great quality food - drinks in a cosy area (gorgeous decor) first with canapes, amuse bouche before your food arrives, coffee and petits fours afterwards... I think if you're after a really special treat it's best to stick to either of Fife's Michelin starred restaurants (both are amazing!) and actually save cash while you're at it.” - Charlotte J

“Simple sophistication, perfect execution and a lot of fun
We didn't even look at the menu but trusted Chef Dean Banks to send us courses of his choice. We ended up having seven of them. I imagined Haar being a seafood restaurant only but the lamb and duck served to us were an amazing and tasty surprise. I had the immense pleasure to try Dean's version of Banoffee which I saw on the BBC Masterchef professionals TV show with envy. It was as exquisite as I imagined.
I also really enjoyed the clean and simple interior and relaxed atmosphere which is often too heavy in fine dining restaurants.
Every dish served to us could not have been tastier and better executed.
The staff was also very dedicated and helpful as well as friendly and professional.

Had an amazing experience at Haar this evening. The staff are so helpful in describing the dishes, advising what is best to try which was awesome as we tried dishes we wouldn't normally have gone for. The food itself is amazing. The fusion of flavours leaves you wanting to try more and the less is more portion size means you can. The atmosphere is relaxed with a buzz of happy diners all enjoying Deans food. The whole dining experience was amazing. Before having our meal we ordered some drinks: fantastic cocktails! For dinner we had lobster and I have never tasted anything alike. To top it up, Chef Dean came to the table and spent a few minutes with us, explaining about the dishes and giving us some insight about his restaurant which we really appreciated. We decided to try Haar after seeing good reviews and it seemed that the chef was on a television show, we only knew this after eating there.
We started with a round of cocktails to get into the mood that were amazing and well balanced but also interesting and it was just the start of a great evening.
Being big seafood eaters we decided to get a white wine, the staff was very helpful to direct us to something that would pair with our dishes.
Overall the service was perfect, not intrusive but water was always refilled and the servers knew well the menu and were in general very knowledgable you could see the place put effort in training the staff.
My highlight dish wise would the the octopus and the sea Coley! Both were perfect dishes. I really like that the cuisine is modern and inspiring yet focuses on products and flavour, there’s too many restaurants that end up with tacky dishes, not at Haar.

We came here as a treat for my wife's birthday. We had told the manager that it was for a special occasion and not only got treated to a free mocktail (wife's currently pregnant) we also got sat at the chefs table right across from the pass. Everything from the service, the food to drinks were phenomenal. The staff were so friendly and so accommodating for the fact my wife was pregnant which really made her day. To top it all off we even got to meet chef Dean who couldn't have been any nicer. Highly recommend anyone to try as you wont be disappointed. Must be due a Michelin star for the quality and presentation of outstanding dishes. Sunday lunch was a treat with excellent service to match. Loved the duck dish and the BBQ flavour was like nothing I've tasted before. Will return soon.” - fraser m
My hubby and I visited Haar for lunch with friends. I could not fault our experience.
The restaurant was well decorated with a tranquil atmosphere. Service was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient.
We had the set lunch menu (but couldn’t resist some oysters, jalapeño & cucumber from the a la carte!).
The menu is a really interesting fusion between local seasonal food and complimentary asian flavours. Immaculate presentation whilst packing a punch of flavour.
Fans of Masterchef, it was great to see Dean at work.
Overall experience left us wanting more! Cant wait to come back for dinner!

After a fabulous welcome by Dean and Harr’s friendly, capable team we chose to try his tasting menu. Our party consisted of one pescatarian, one vegan and one dairy free. Our dietary requirements dictated what ingredients Dean had at his disposal, and he was given no prior warning to our arrival. Without hesitation he produced the most beautiful combination of dishes for us to experience his ability to master together flavours, colours, smells and excitement in such a way that he left us anticipating what was coming next. His enthusiasm was contagious and our dining experience a joy. Having enjoyed fine dining in some amazing restaurants around the globe, Deans culinary expertise is right up there with the best of the best. 10/10 across the board. The experience from entering Haar’s door to leaving was uplifting and memorable. I believe it won’t be long until his genius rewards Chef Dean Banks with his first Michelin Star.” - SusanD01
