“Delicious food but something missing
Our first visit to haar and we were very happy with the quality and quantity of the tasting menu. Good selection of dishes that tantalised the tastebuds on every level. We added the wagyu beef and smoked lobster as an extra. Both were lovely but lobster was a little on the small side. As for the restaurant, there was something not quite right that we struggled to work out exactly what. The welcome was fine and the staff were friendly and engaging enough although the chef at the chefs table seemed a little shy to be suited for that role. We also found the restaurant to be a bit stark and needed something either decor or lighting wise to add a little warmth to proceedings.”
We enjoyed every taste of the delicious menu from the snacks to the starter to the main, pudding and coffee. And the wine.

This was our second visit to Haar, but our first since they moved into their new premises. And the experience was even better the second time around. We went for dinner in between Christmas and New Year. We opted to the wine pairing menu and it was exquisite. We started the evening with some snacks at the chefs table. I have an allergy to crustaceans and this was swiftly and sympathetically dealt with in terms of delivery and care. Our server explained our extra choices and we are glad of her recommendation. The scallop with red Thai sauce and squid ink cracker was out of this world. The meal, ambience, decor and staff were so welcoming. Can’t wait to come back again.”

You are started off in a lounge area and a drinks order is taken. You are then give them menu and told about the specials. We went with the tasting menu and added in one extra course of Wagyu Sirloin and one course of the Lobster.
You are then directed to the ‘snack’ area where you are given some pre-meal snacks. They are prepared in front of you and each has a little story to it.
Then you are taken to your main table and the service begins.
Each dish was pretty much perfect. I would definitely recommend it for anyone in St Andrews.
